Cost Of Living

Students from EU/EEA country including Switzerland, or permanent residence within the EU/EEA as well as exchange students and PHD students do not pay tuition fees to study In Finland. Since 2017 Students outside of EU/EEA and want to study in bachelor or masters degree, have to pay tuition fees. Depending upon the institute, location and program tuition fees will range between 5k to 15k Euros per annum.


Accommodation in Finland can be arranged through University or student housing. Students can also rent private property themselves which can be bit expensive. Depending on the area you that you will live in, it can cost between 500 to 1000 Euros per month. Helsinki is the most expensive city however Lapperant, Pori and Tampere are mostly affordable.


Food, transport and other expenses vary between the cities but generally 200-300 Euros for food, 30-50 Euros for Transport and around 100 Euro for entertainment and social activities are standard cost.

Application And Visa Process

Like any other overseas destination for studies, first step is to be accepted by one of the educational institute. For this we will assist you to choose the right program and right Finnish university. Just bear in mind there are two types of Institute in Finland.

  • University of Applied Science (UAS)- Train professionals according to job market
  • Universities – Conduct scientific research and post graduate education

Once the university accepts your application, you will receive an official “Letter Of Admission” from the university then application for Student Visa will commence.

To be able to apply for Finland Student Visa following documents are mandatory

Career Prospects

For non EU student with study permit they can work an average of 25 hour during the study term. Good thing is that the number of hours is not restricted on a weekly basis. There are no such barriers during school break that means students can get much working experience before they graduate.


In recent years there are labor shortages in many industries in Finland especially in health care, service industry, programming, and engineering. However even though English is popular language but many jobs require Finish or Swedish language. Therefore leaning these languages certainly increases your change of landing into job market.


After graduation students can apply for one year residence permit to find a job. Once you get a job you can apply for work based residence permit. Then you can be granted a permanent residence when you stay in Finland for 4 years with full time work.
